How To.. Fit a Canvas in a Floater Frame

Floater frames give your stretched canvas a beautiful �floating� appearance with a gap around the edges. This guide shows you exactly how to fit your canvas securely using the supplied Velcro system.

Before You Start

Your canvas must be professionally stretched first
Choose a floater frame depth that suits your canvas thickness
Work on a clean, flat surface

Safety Note

For extra security, you should insert screws through the back of the frame and into the stretcher bars (see video for details).

Securing Your Canvas with Velcro

Each floater frame comes with self-adhesive Velcro dots. The number supplied depends on the frame size.

Step 1

Peel one hook and one loop piece (avoid touching the adhesive).

Step 2

Press the hook and loop together to join them.

Step 3

Place the joined Velcro dots inside the frame � start with the corners.

Step 4

Add more dots evenly around all sides of the frame.

Step 5

Carefully position your stretched canvas inside the frame.

Step 6

Gently press around the edges so the canvas sticks to the Velcro.

Repositioning the Canvas

The Velcro system allows you to gently lift the canvas out and reposition it if needed.

Additional Security for Large Canvases

For extra security (especially with large or heavy canvases), you should screw directly through the back of the floater frame into the stretcher bars. Use the correct screw length to avoid damaging the front of your canvas.

Pro Tips

Work in a clean, well-lit area
Wear gloves if you want to avoid fingerprints on the canvas edges
Double-check that all Velcro dots are making good contact
Combine Velcro with screws for a secure finish
