The pictures on your walls should reflect your personality. You may like a theme for each room, and the choice is huge: nature, animals, birds, people and more. With so many businesses online, you can now pick up prints from the comfort of home. Here are six sources to try.
Shutterstock
Shutterstock has over 300 million photos, illustrations and vectors, all royalty-free, so you needn't worry about the legality of the image on your wall. You download images to your computer on a subscription, limited by both time and number of images. At the time of writing, the lowest tier was around £39 for 50 images over a year, or the same amount monthly for 50 images a month. Images download as JPEGs in several sizes, and you can build a collection before you download. The library is vast, so allow time to browse.
Pixabay
Pixabay hosts over two million free photos, grouped under Popular, Latest, Upcoming and Editor's Choice, and then by type: photos, illustrations and vector graphics. You can filter by orientation, size and colour, and there is an alphabetical list of categories running from animals and architecture to travel and vacation.
Images come under Pixabay's own licence. You can use them without crediting the creator, even commercially. The one restriction is that you cannot offer them on another similar platform.
Art UK
Art UK is a charity, and the proceeds from the prints it sells go towards its work promoting art in the UK. It is linked to over 3,200 British galleries and museums and shows around 200,000 oil paintings.
Prints for your own walls come with no strings attached. Commercial use needs a licence agreement. Sales are handled by the Art UK Shop on the same website: browse, choose and order, and your prints are packed and sent by Royal Mail.
Wallart-direct
Wallart-direct sells canvas prints, art posters and wall murals, and arranges them by room. Click Living Room, Nursery, Bedroom, Kitchen, Boys Room or Girls Room to see what is recommended for each. You can also browse by colour and by style, such as Vintage, Modern, Funky and Retro. The collection runs to over a million images. Orders are packaged securely, sent by courier and insured against damage in transit.
Etsy
Etsy is a global marketplace where independent sellers offer their own work. Open Prints under Art and Collectibles and you'll find a staggering 3 million of them. Digital prints start at around £4 and run to £70 or more. Categories include music and film posters and prints of etchings and carvings. Ordering, payment and delivery work as on any online shop.
Wayfair
Wayfair sells furniture and home decor for the UK market. Its Wall Art section covers posters, paper wall art, children's wall art, canvas and photography, and there is a separate section for art prints. The variety is mind-boggling. Delivery is free within the UK on orders over £40, and the Ideas and Advice section may give you some thoughts for decorating your home.
Framing your prints
Once you have ordered or downloaded your prints from any of these sites, we can frame them for you. We specialise in framing and mounting prints, on paper or canvas.
