There isn't much we haven't framed, from off-the-shelf frames to personalised ones and everything in between. We're proud of our service and do our best to make frames that you, your friends and your family will enjoy. But however experienced we are, some things only you know.
Here are three questions to ask yourself before you start on your picture framing journey. Give them some thought and you'll choose with confidence every time.
1. Does everyone agree on the frame?
Think about who will see the artwork. If it's going in your home office, where only you spend time, you needn't worry much about anyone else's opinion.
If it's going somewhere more public, such as the hallway or living room, make sure everyone agrees. If opinions are divided, wait until you reach a compromise.
If the disagreement is about style, consider something modern and neutral, such as a wide, flat wooden frame. With a happy medium, the artwork becomes the focus of attention instead of the frame becoming something the family argues about.
2. Is the room about to be redecorated?
We often see people choose a frame that complements the artwork but doesn't go with the decor. If you plan to redecorate the room where the piece will hang, put the framing on the back burner until it's done. The last thing you want is a frame that clashes with the new style.
If you need something in the meantime, we can frame your artwork simply for now, and you can upgrade later. You won't waste much money, and the simple frames can be reused for another project.
3. Is this your taste, or someone else's?
With everyone offering opinions, it's easy to be swept along by trends, or to default to open, featureless rooms that lack imagination.
Art is subjective. What you like, others may hate. But it's your home, and it should be your decision. Pick a frame that makes you feel good and shows your character. Lots of people secretly want to make a real feature of their paintings, so don't be shy about using colour just the way you want it.
